Homemade oil extractors can have a number of uses in your life depending on your hobbies. Many people build their own oil extractors in order to save money on changing their car's oil by doing it themselves. Oil extractors can also be used when creating essential oils from plants after the oil has been separated from the water mixture in which the plant has been distilled. Using a plastic water bottle and a couple of feet of flexible plastic tubing, you can easily create a basic siphon that can be used to extract oil in various situations.
Remove the cap from your water bottle. Fit one end of the flexible plastic tubing around the spout of your water bottle. If the mouth of the plastic tubing is too small for the water bottle spout, replace the cap and use your cordless drill and plastic drill bit to drill a hole straight through the top of the cap. If the hole is small, drill a few to increase the flow rate capacity of the oil extractor you are creating.
Secure the flexible plastic tubing to the top of the water bottle by wrapping a few lengths of duct tape around the spout of the water bottle. The tubing should be firmly secured so that the plastic tubing can hang free from the water bottle without falling off.
Drill a hole in the bottom of your water bottle if your homemade oil extractor will be used for high volumes of liquid. Use the cordless drill and plastic drill bit to create the hole. Cover the hole with duct tape in such a way that the hole is covered, but the duct tape can be easily pulled back. When siphoning has begun, you can pull back the duct tape to let the oil run into a bucket instead of spurting out of the other end of the siphon because the bottle is full.
