How to Replace a Toyota Camry Brake Light Bulb

Brake lights are vital for safety on the road. Replace your brake light bulb as soon as possible to avoid getting a fix-it ticket, costing you money and time. Mechanics charge for labor at high rates and mark up the price of the parts for something you can easily do yourself. It is a simple process to change out your Camry's light bulb with a screwdriver and can be done in about 10 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Replacement bulb
  • Open up the trunk to access the brake light. Remove any carpet panels out of the way.

  • Use a screwdriver to loosen and remove the screws holding the brake light panel in place.

  • Pull out the lens assembly from the back panel.

  • Remove the old bulb by twisting and lifting it up. Check that the electrical contact is not burned out. Place the new bulb in the socket.

  • Pop the lens assembly back into place. Replace the screws and tighten them with the screwdriver. Close the trunk.
