How to Remove a BMW Door Panel

Knowing how to remove the door panel from your car is a useful skill to have as a do-it-yourselfer. You'll be able to skip the costs of repair and time wasted going to a shop if you need to access the inside of the door to remove a speaker, set a window on track or replace a window motor.

Things You'll Need

  • Panel tool
  • Screwdrivers
  • Remove the sail panel from the leading front edge of the door. Pry it off with your panel tool.

  • Undo and remove the Phillips screw that is exposed when you remove the sail panel.

  • Pry out the the panel containing the power window and door switches. Pull it out and disconnect the wiring plugs underneath the panel.

  • Pry around the edges of the door panel with your panel tool to release the clips holding the door panel in place. Lift the panel up and off of the door frame, and disconnect the power plugs for the door lighting.
