How to Replace the Wiper Blades on a Honda Accord

If you've ever driven through a heavy rain then you know how important it is to have a set of good wiper blades on your Honda Accord. And, luckily, if you need new ones, they're really easy to install. In just 10 minutes your new set of wiper blades can be operational on your Honda Accord.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement wiper blades for a Honda Accord
  • Lift the wiper arm on the driver's side until it is in the standing position. Then lift the wiper arm on the passenger side until it is standing as well. (Because of the layout of the car, lift the driver's side first.)

  • Press in the lock tab and disconnect the blade assembly from the wiper arm. (Make sure you hold the lock tab in as you push it down toward the assembly arm.)

  • Hold the tabbed end of the old wiper blade and remove it from its holder by pulling firmly.

  • Check to see if your new wiper blade has a metal or plastic reinforcement along the back edge. If you purchase the wiper blades from a Honda dealership, it'll have it. If you purchased your replacement blades from an auto parts store, you'll have to remove the plastic or metal reinforcement and attach it to the new blade.

  • Place the new wiper blade into its holder until you feel the tabs lock.

  • Push the wiper assembly onto the wiper arm. Make sure you hear it "click" or lock into place.

  • Push the passenger's side wiper arm down against the windshield first, followed by the driver's side wiper arm. (Remember that because of the shape of the windshield they must be returned to their primary position in this order.)

  • Test out your work by spraying washer fluid onto your windshield. After a few seconds, the wiper blades will go to work and automatically clear away the fluid.
