2008 Passat Turbo Oil Type

The Volkswagen Passat can be traced back to a troubled time for Volkswagen. Everything in their lineup -- including the Beetle -- was just falling short in comparison to the models available from other manufacturers. Volkswagen already had good ties with Audi, and it was in fact Audi's design that first brought about the Passat. Even then, in 1973, when the Passat was initially released, you had to venture outside the United States borders to actually find one. That doesn't mean they weren't here, because they were, just under different names. The Passat was originally sold in the U.S. market as the Volkswagen Dasher or the Audi Fox until 1982, then as the Quantum until 1988. The Passat name tag finally hit the U.S. market in 1990, and it was here to stay.
