How to Place Jack Stands on a Buick

Jacking up a vehicle can be dangerous. If it is done improperly, the vehicle may fall and cause serious damage or injury. Newer model Buick vehicles have designated locations on their undercarraige and frame for jack and jack stand placement. You should always place your jacks and jack stands in these locations on your Buick when you are lifting it up.

Things You'll Need

  • Owner's Manual
  • Read the owner's manual for your Buick (see Resource). The type of vehicle it is, along with its size and weight, will designate the jacking locations. These will be listed in the vehicle care section of your owner's manual.

  • Crawl underneath your Buick, and identify the jacking locations. According to the 2011 Buick Regal's owner's manual, "the location is indicated by a mark on the bottom edge of the front and rear door plastic molding." Place the jack in one of the designated locations, jack up the Buick and place a jack stand in another one of the designated locations. Repeat the process for all the jacks stands you'll need.

  • Place jack stands underneath the frame of axle if your Buick is an older model with no designated jacking locations. You will need to select a flat, sturdy place for the jack to sit, and always use two or more jack stands to evenly distribute your Buick's weight.
