Auto body repair & detailing: Paint Touch-up, 2005 nissan altima, finger nail polish

Question
I recently had some hail damage on my 2005 Nissan Altima.  The paint was cracked in one area on the hood(aluminum).  The folks who did the repair for me recommended using a clear filler and then fixing the dent.  They said that it would look better than trying to match the pearl white paint.  My wife isn't happy with the one inch "scratch" appearance left on the car.  Would you recommend I find some touch up paint with a fine bruch and simply paint over the cracked area with the clear filler in it?

Thank You
Craig

Answer
you stated the people that did the repairs for you . did they fixit?? or not. if they did and your wife is not happy .take it back have them do it again. if the repairs are not done look at other body shops you can get a spot repair done on it. where they repair only the damaged aera . and clear the aera. aluminum can be repaired a lot of imports are going with it it is cheaper and lighter. you fix it the same way as metal.. if you try to repair yourself with touchup paint. do yourself a favor go to the dealer get the oem touch up paint for it. than get a horse hair brush to put it on . put on two or three real light coats, don.t try to fill it in 1 shot it will be ugly. after you get the car to look good with the paint lightlsand it with newspaer to get out any rough spots. than put on a coat of clear finger nail polish. than newpaper again than polish it. this should do you. hope his hel[ps
