Car Stereos: Amp to stock cd player, chevy malibu, memphis car audio

Question
Ok i have a 2002 Chevy malibu, and i want to keep the stock radio but add an amp and subs. I noticed wheni checked out the back of the headunit. I have one spot for a adapter of some sort, do they make adapters so that they will connect to the Amplifier? my brother said i need one with 2 wires coming off it (kinda like the audio video style) . please help!

Answer
Hi Amanda.

ok what you need its called high low level converter, they run about $20.00 depending on the quality. memphis car audio just came out with a new OEM integration unit its called 6ix, this is a line output converter has six inputs ands 6 outputs. features a signal-sensing turn on, 60 watts of speaker input @4 ohms and 9.5 volts of output you also get a volume control (not a gain control), this device hooks up to your rear speakers, and it separates the signal to be able to add amplifiers up to 3 amps if you plan to get later on more amplifiers to amplify the door speakers and keep the head unit this is what you need sugg. retail $199.00. if what you want its just to add some bass then just get the regular converter.

if you need help on the wiring let me know.

cheers.
