Land Rover Repair: 98 Disco sunroof jam, land rover discovery, roof assembly

Question
I own a 1998 Land Rover Discovery and love it. But my rear sunroof is jammed. It will open fine but it close back. So now it is stuck in the open position. How can i fix this problem.

Answer
It's kind of a big deal to fix this.  You have to take out the panels on the sides of the interior, then lower the headliner.  You can then unbolt the roof assembly and remove it.

You can replace the cables and tracks but Land Rover recommends an updated complete roof assembly, about $400 US

The original designs were prone to break and jam as yours has.

This is probably a 4-6 hour job in most workshops because of the time and trouble to remove the headlining.  And then the roof has to be repaired on the bench.
