Land Rover Repair: 99 Rangie Prop shaft problem, nyloc nuts, edinburgh scotland

Question
Hi John.
I have a 2.5 DSE 1999 Rangie that has had most of the classic faults you can expect, many of them sorted by the answers you have given to others.  My Rangie is making a clunking sound when I take my foot off the gas, I am confident that it is play in the prop shaft or joints but don't know how to check it. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Neil,

could be the pinion within a differential or the driveshaft connection U-joints.  Most likely, it's the U-joints.  Make sure to use new nyloc nuts and check torque after repairs are made and you've driven your Rangie a few weeks.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
