Land Rover Repair: 97 Discovery I transmission, computer control, gearbox

Question
I have a 97 Discovery I with 78,000 miles and I am having problems with it shifting.  I have lost overdrive and it will not kick down when you floor it.  All other gears are fine.  It started acting up right after I hooked up the computer to find out why the check engine light was on.  I have changed tranny filter and fluid.  I am not sure if it is the kick down cable or something electrical.  Please help.

Answer
There is no computer control of the transmission in a 97 Disco.  Whatever problem you have is within the gearbox.  You should make sure your kickdown cable or switch is not stuck and fluid level is right.  Pretty much all else requires transmission removal.
