Theresa,

if you've had the ABS light for over 2 years, it sounds more like a failed sensor.

When the ABS light is triggered, it's most often caused by
someone not replacing the ABS reluctor ring. A new part would be needed.

It's also possible that someone may have moved/dislogged the wheel sensor, in which case you need to reseat it.

Finally, the ABS sensor may have been damaged and needs replacement.  A LR technician could test the sensor to be sure.

Hi Theresa,

Poor braking could be a sign of air in the brake lines or the master cylinder itself.  It could also be a seized caliper.  Did you have your brake caliper's inspected and tested?

What is the condition of your wheel hubs?  It's possible that the wheel hub could cause the ABS system to trigger an error.  Clearly, you'll need LR expertise to solve this problem.

Rover's North has excellent articles on this too...

Select the Fall 2003 article and scroll to "which warning light can an owner check and fix".  Interesting article.

Best of luck,
