Lexus Repair: 92 LS400 Down shifs and smells, tony bailey, ls400

Question
My Lexus when driving and I hit the brakes down shifts. The R
lights up on the console where (D,R,N etc. is located). Also, the
light out indicator come ons and show a illustration of the car
indicating that there are some lights bulbs out in the back.
But when I physically check them no lights are out.
The tach gage goes up then back down.
Also, I have a smell like burning plastic.
What could be causing this?

Hey Tony, Sounds like you may have a couple of things going on. It may all be related but hard to say. These are not common problems that I am aware of except for maybe the rear light thing. The rear light out indicator is for the brake lamps so you will need to check them while someone is pushing down on the brake pedal. The trans and tach etc. can be all related but you will need to bring it to someone who knows the Lexus brand.
