Motorcycle Repair: Moisture collecting inside tachometer housing, moisture buildup, rubber seal

Question
Chris - thanks for taking my question.
I have a '95 Triumph Speed Triple (recently acquired)and noticed moisture collecting inside the     tachometer housing.  It shows up on the inside of the glass faceplate.  Is it possible to seal up the housing to prevent this?  Is it recommended to do so? It seems prudent to try to prevent moisture buildup and inevitable rust. I'm not aware of any repairs or disassembly of the tach.  - Dave

Answer
Hi Dave.

There should not be any moisture build up in the instruments.  It sounds like a rubber seal in the instrument is bad.

Check the housing and seal for anything that is out of place.

Let me know what you find.

Good luck and ride safe.
