Nissan Repair: 93 pathfinder new plugs not firing, paperclip, roter

Question
I have changed plugs, cap.roter&module and the car is still not starting

Answer
Carlos,

I would check the distributor for oil on the optical shutter wheel.  Also, the ignitor could be defective.  First, disassemble the distributor by removing the cap, rotor, rotor post and cover and look at the optical shutter wheel.  It is a disc that has slots cut into it with an LED pickup and receiver.  Any oil on the optics and simply get a rebuilt distributor.  You should check the circuit to see if the coil gets power and pull a plugwire and get a length of wire like a paperclip.  Insert the paperclip into the end of the plug boot and holt the wire, by the boot, about a tenth of an inch from metal on the engine.  Have someone crank the engine and look for a spark.  If there is not one check the distributor and the ignitor.
