Nissan Repair: Air bag light, controller area network, cefiro

My 1998 Cefiro wagon 'cruising G '2.5 V6 117000kms airbag light has started flashing,any quick fix? Will bags randomly go off? Causes? Cheers

The airbags are on a controller area network and the flashing light means that a defect has been detected and they will not go off.  The computer has disabled them.  You need to take it into the shop to get the code read to discover exactly what is going wrong.  Not too many shops have airbag scanners due to the liability associated with them.  Probably a dealer or a body shop.
