my pathfinder's inside lights don't turn on when door is open i have to turn them on and off    by the light switch     it used to work good before

Check the fuses first since the overhead light and map light are fed by different circuits.  If it is not a fuse it is the switch you are using to turn the lights on and off.  That is, unless you have verified no door opening on either side of the vehicle works the light.  Now, if the passenger side door works the light then it is the drivers side door pin switch.
