Answer
Hi Anita:

Sorry about your truck & lock.  It sounds like yo simply need to replace the lock cylinder in your vehicle with a new one and you should be fine.
We have recently uploaded pages with a description and photos of how to replace the lock cylinder on GM vehicles (for a small fee).  They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions. Here is a link to that page.  This covers most of the locks from 1995 to present.

Lastly, I would have a new lock cylinder in hand before you begin, to see what you are working on (hidden in the column) and accomplish finishing this job quickly.

Good luck
Doug
