Steering Column Repair: 06 Saturn Vue IGNITION LOCK MODULE, gm vehicles, saturn vue

Question
I started having problem with unlocking the steering wheel to turn on the car so I eventially called a locksmith and they replaced the Ignition (the keyed to original key).  Now when I try to try on the car (no steerling lock anymore), it starts right up for one second then goes dead.  I have a new battery.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I am deployed to the desert and trying to fix from 1000's of miles away.

It sounds like the lock may be the wrong one (if that's what they replaced) or the system may just need to be reprogrammed.

Lastly, If that does not work, call the locksmith back and have him remove the lock to make sure the lock he put in has the magnet for the antitheft system
