Answer
Hi Dan:

In order to remove the lock cylinder (without drilling anything) is to MAKE it turn.  The release pin only reveals itself to the release hole on the top of the housing in the 'start' position.
Here's what you need to do and some instructions on our website to help you.

Disconnect the battery so the starter does not engage during this process. If the covers are off, then you're half way home.  With a pair of channel lock pliers, force the the lock cylinder to the start position.  the plastic cap may break off, but that's ok.
when in that position using a pick or small probe, push down in the release hole to the spring loaded cylinder lock.  then pull the lock cylinder out while rotating it back to the 'run' position.

We have recently uploaded pages and a description of how to replace the multi-switch on GM vehicles and removing the lock is part of this procedure.  They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions. Here is a link to that page.

I hope these instructions help you.  If not, please contact me again for more information.
