Can you help

Answer

either remount the old
Hi Kel:

The difference between the two columns is really small.  the way the ignition switch mounts on the column determines if the rod, pushes or pulls the switch.  the two columns you have are opposite.
You can either use the original switch on the replacement column, or turn the replacement switch around on the metal mount.  I'm not use if you have the mounting screws for the original, but that's all it will take to remedy this problem.
In the future, please contact us sooner.  We could have helped you simply replace the lock cylinder on the original much easier than the work you went through.

We have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the video is for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.

Good luck
