Towing Issues: Parking & towing in VA, small claims court, laundry room

Question
I was visiting my girlfriend at her apartment complex and my vehicle got towed. After searching the property, there are signs warning of towing, just stated in her lease. As a visitor, aren't I suppose to be warned of any towing possibilities? What are my options here?

Answer
Well as a general rule, a warning to visitors or tenants would be the signs posted at the entrances to the complex...

That generally will fulfill the legal requirements of any location...

As to "PERSONAL WARNINGS" just how do you propose to warn people... Lets say that the complex has 100 units... You park your car in the lot and the general area where you parked has 10 apartments...
Are they supposed to go knock on each and every door ???

And since its summertime, what about going to the pool or the laundry room when they knocked on the door...   To impractical to do that.

Options, well there are not many of then, other than to be "REALLY AWARE" of where you are parking and to notice ANY AND ALL SIGNS regarding parking at entrances to complexes and other parking lots...  That goes a long ways in solving the issues and problems.

You can try to go to small claims court, but it most likely will not be a practical or successful attempt.
