Dodge: Fuel pump chrsyler town and country, chrysler town and country, fuel pump relay

Question
My wife owns a 1996 chrysler town and country with a 3.8 v6 and today as she was driving it turned off.I sprayed starting fluid in the air cleaner hose and it seem to want to start but did not.I went under and tapped on the fuel pump and filter and it would start but then turn off.I pushed it home since it was only a block away and let it sit and after about 15 minutes it would start but then die as if it was not getting gas. might this be the fuel pump going bad? thanks

Answer
It sounds like a.) fuel filter is clogged (need to check fuel pressure before and after the filter) or b.) fuel pump relay. I work at a parts store and more often than not, it's one of these. Try swapping the A/C and Fuel relay. They don't always fit so you may need to spend 12-15 bucks, but if it does fit, and the A/C worked before the swap and it still doesn't work, it's not the relay. Like I said, more often than not. How many miles are on it?
Let me know how you make out.
