Mercedes: 1985 380 Se Electric Coolong Fan, electric cooling fan, engine coolant

Question
the electric cooling fan on car stays on all the time. It is really load. Just had thermostat and radiator cap changes and anti freeze refilled but that is about it. Can you tell me whats up and if this is an issue?

Answer
The Fan is on full time when the AC is engaged to help remove the heat from the interior.
It is also thermostatically controlled by a switch near the water outlet on top of the engine. The fan is engaged when the temperature reaches a preset limit.
If the switch is bad, then the fan would run full time with the AC off and with the engine cold.

Make sure your coolant recover tank remains to the full line. And make sure you change the oil regularly and in the full level as it is also an engine coolant.

These are very important during these time of extreme heat.

Good Luck
