Volvo: Keyless Entry, independent volvo, volvo s70

Hi,
I just bought 1999 Volvo s70. It came with only one key but I looked in a owners manual and it says that this car is equipped with keyless entry option. I contacted the previous owner but he told me that he never used keyless entry and he doesn't have a remote. On the dash board there is a small red/white bulb and it looks like transmitter for keyless entry. How can I check if it works and also how do I program the remote. I just bought a brand new one and I was wondering if it's possible to program it without going to a dealer.

Hello Danny! You will need a special tool called a VST(Volvo Systems Tester) to program the new remote. Any dealer would have the tool or if there is an independent Volvo shop in your area, they should be able to help you too.
