Tips on Buying Cars: wish to cancel my lease proposal, lease proposal, principle owner

Question
hello, on August 3rd I signed a lease proposal with my local Nissan dealer.  the following day I realized that the delivery date was not good and I called immediately.  we have tried to negotiate a delivery date and can not...  I called the manager and asked him to cancel my proposal and refund me my $500 deposit.  I no longer want the vehicle because of all the frustrations and the manner of which the manager talked to us. rude and arrogant. I called my local consumer protection office and they said to write a letter and deliver to the manager stipulating your cancellation and why.  can they keep my deposit? or do I have a case?  I did not sign any lease or financial contracts... just the lease proposal

Answer
Sorry your having this problem, 1st I would find out who the dealer principle/owner is and contact them. 2nd I would call Nissan Financial and tell them you have no intention of leasing a car through them. 3rd I would let the idiot Mgr know you contacted the other 2 and you don't intend to lease or carry any insurance on the car. You should be able contact your local dept of transportation and see if there is a way to file a complaint. Last, if you did not sign any contracts or take delivery they cannot keep your deposit. Good luck, unfortunately this could be a tiring process but you are in the right.
