How to Tow a Nissan Altima

If you should ever need to tow your Nissan Altima, you should adhere to the rules of towing your vehicle. You can find these rules detailed in your Altima owner's manual. If you do not follow the correct guidelines to tow your Nissan Altima, you may damage the wheel bearings and cause major damage to your vehicle. You may have to take your vehicle to a Nissan repair shop to have your vehicle repaired by a certified mechanic.

  • Open the driver side door and insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition key to the ''Off''

    position.

  • Turn the steering wheel to the left, to the right and back to the center position. Push the gear into the "Neutral" position.

  • Turn the key backward into the ''Off'' position.

  • Back the towing lift under the Altima. Wrap the safety chains around the front wheel axles. Secure each chain to a chain link.

  • Follow the instructions listed in the towing vehicle to lift the front of the Altima up until the front wheels are lifted off the ground.
