How to Remove a Wheel Hub Without a Puller

A steering wheel is a part of most land vehicles and is mass-produced for different types of automobiles such cars and light and heavy trucks. A steering wheel is the one that you use to steer or drive your car or truck. Steering wheels are easy to remove if you have a wheel puller but if you would like to remove your car or your truck’s steering wheel and do not want to spend money on a wheel puller, you can easily do so.

Things You'll Need

  • Brass or nylon dead shot hammer
  • Protect the threads in the steering wheel by leaving the nut on the car or truck’s column.

  • Sit on the driver’s seat and put both knees behind the steering wheel.

  • Pull the steering wheel toward you by using your thighs. Do this with much force. Giving it a good upward pressure will help you remove it faster.

  • While you are pulling the steering wheel toward you, use your nylon or brass dead shot hammer and bang on the car’s shaft from above. By doing this, the harmonics will push the steering wheel off.
