How to Stop a Vehicle in a Garage at the Right Spot

When you have a small garage, every inch counts. To be able to maximize your space as well as keep your car from accidental damage, it is important to know exactly where the car needs to be parked. Once you've established the perfect spot for your car in the garage, you just need some kind of system to ensure that you'll be able to hit that spot every time. A simple tennis ball on a string will do the trick.

Things You'll Need

  • Tennis ball
  • String
  • 1 metal washer
  • Screwdriver
  • Eyehook
  • Ladder
  • Scissors
  • Park your car in the exact spot you want to use as your perfect parking spot.

  • Set up the ladder on the driver's side of the car near the point where the windshield meets the hood.

  • Climb the ladder with the string and eyehook. Attach the eyehook to the ceiling or into a joist above the windshield of the car. Try to make it so the string, when it comes down, touches the windshield directly in front of the driver's eye level.

  • Tie the string to the eyehook and cut the end of the string so it touches the windshield.

  • Poke a hole in the tennis ball with the screwdriver.

  • Tie the metal washer to the end of the string that is touching the windshield. Push the washer into the tennis ball through the hole you created with the screwdriver.
