How to Make Your Own Oil Change Reminder Stickers

Every car needs routine oil changes to ensure smooth operation. Most car owner's manuals recommend oil changes every 7,500 miles (the 3,000 mile oil change is myth) for optimal performance. If you need help remembering when you should go in for an oil change, make yourself a little window sticker as a reminder.

Things You'll Need

  • Calculator
  • Permanent marker
  • 2x3 inch sticker
  • Get your oil changed on the first day of spring.

  • Record how many miles your car has on that day.

  • Add 7,500 miles to that number. The result will be the mileage on the car when you're ready for your next oil change.

  • Write on the small sticker (these can be purchased at any office supply store) the number result from Step 3.

  • Apply the sticker to the upper left-hand corner of your windshield. Schedule an oil change appointment when your odometer mileage approaches the number on your sticker.
