Dashboard Fabrication - Doin' A Dash

When it comes to whipping a 70-plus-year-old steel body back into shape, there's lots of restoration chores involved-some difficult, and some, thankfully, easy. In this case it's the removal and replacement of an accident-damaged dashboard in a '32 roadster pickup. The damaged dash being replaced is actually not the trucks original but a flat dash installed sometime during its long hard life, which in this case actually makes the job a bit easier, as you'll see.

Since the vehicle in question is another of the no-frills budget beaters, I've gained a reputation for sewing together, the dash panel I'll be fabricating is pretty simple in design and installation-as the K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid) principle suits both my taste and skill level perfectly. That said, hopefully the basic procedure shown here will help serve as a guideline for those beginning hobbyists striving to reach my level of mediocrity.
