Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Sonata codes P1720 and P1520, hyundai sonata gls, sonata gls v6

Hi,

Yesterday I was driving my 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 and it gave me a little jerk and"Check Engine" on my dashboard was on.

I checked from the AutoZone and rthey found 2 codes : P1520 and P1720.

No one is able to find the exact description and repair details for Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 .

I request you to let me know what should i do to fix those 2 codes.

Neither P1520 not P1720 are listed in my code chart for this vehicle.  I suspect you've either copied the codes incorrectly or the scan tool/code reader isn't communicating properly with the vehicle.

In fact, Hyundai uses P1520 on other models to indicate a specific alternator malfunction.  Since your alternator is not controlled by the ECM, the ECM would have no way of knowing whether this problem were to exist.  Hyundai has not used the code P1720 on any U.S. vehicles.  This also supports my proposition above regarding miscopying or a communication issue.
