Nissan Repair: rear suspension, nissan 240sx, sheet stock

Question
My son has a 1991 Nissan 240SX that he has lowered. When he tried to get it aligned they told him that the left rear lower arm was missing a part called the "toe eccentric". We have contacted Nissan and been told that the part is no longer available. Do we have any other options with this repair?

Answer
John,

An eccentric is basically a washer that has the hold drilled offset.  This way the car can be aligned by rotating the bolt and the washer will move the control arm in or out depending on the location of the offset hole.  You should take the ones off the other side and make a set of your own out of sheet stock.  But, an easy way is to go to a wrecking yard and get the parts from a wrecked one.  If you look at the washers on the other side you can see what they look like.  Basically, they look about the size of a fifty cent coin with a hole drilled offset from center.
