Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): pto clutch, resistance values, volt meter

Question
I'm working on a Cub Cadet LT1046, Model 13AP11CH710, Serial 1E215H10284. On the Ignition Switch there is a position for Caution Children,& a Reverse Switch. & a Normal Run position. While mowing in the normal run position the PTO WILL CUT OFF. I can reset the PTO switch & it will come back on. It works fine in the Caution Children position. The headlights are on in both positions. I have bypassed the seat switch.
Any information would be a great help.
Thank You,

Answer
I would start by checking the PTO clutch resistance.  If you Google "Toro Electrical
Demystification Guide" you will find a PDF by Toro that contains a good description of electric PTO clutches.  It covers operation as well as troubleshooting.  The resistance values may be a little different than yours...but not by much as most home owner mowers use a 12 volt DC system.  If your clutch is bad the resistance values will usually be very low or very high and the fuse or circuit break will blow/trip.

Do you have a volt meter?
