Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 11HP GX390, question pool, valve guides

Question
Is it possible to rig a GX390 11HP Honda to run on straight
Ethanol, if so what would I need to do?
And how would it effect power?
Thank You, Jim in Honduras

Answer
Hello Jim:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. I have Not Been Able to Locate a Small Engine Parts Supplier for the Special Alloy Pistons, Valves, Valve Guides and Rings that are Required to Run Straight Ethanol. Because of the Increased Temperature the Engine Runs on the Ethanol, All the Items Listed are a Special Alloy. I Used to Race Alochol Engines and Would Melt Pistons, Burn Valves Quickly (Sometimes I Did Not even Finish a Race. LOL). There are Automotive Parts Suppliers that Manufacture the Special Parts for Automotive Racing Engines, but as I Said; I have Not Located a Supplier for These Special Parts. As for Horse Power. Way Better . But you have to Watch the Engine Temperature and RPM. You will Need a Heavier Spring for the Governor Control Arm. They Run Really Good when they Run, But When you Start Having Problems, then Get Another Engine and Start Again. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
