How to Replace the Bulb on the Digital Display on a Ford Factory Radio

Contemporary Ford vehicles come out of the factory already equipped with a radio. The Ford stock radios have lights underneath that illuminate the radio controls in the dark. If one of the bulbs burns out, you should replace it so you can have an easier time controlling the radio in darker conditions. Replacing one of the bulbs is fairly simple, but you do need to pull the radio out of the dashboard to access the bulbs.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • 194 bulb
  • Gloves
  • Clean cloth
  • Turn off the Ford vehicle's engine and remove the key from the ignition.

  • Remove the four screws from the cover bezel of the center console, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pry off the bezel with a slotted screwdriver.

  • Remove the two screws that secure the radio to the Ford vehicle, using a Phillips screwdriver, and pull out the radio. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the radio and remove the device from the vehicle.

  • Pull off the faulty bulb from the rear of the radio and replace it with a new 194 bulb. Make sure the bulb is secure by clicking it in place.

  • Reinstall the radio and its screws. Reattach the bezel and its screws.
