How to Fix Cracks in a Subwoofer

Installing a subwoofer into your car will make the bass stand out when your playing music. But if you happen to turn up the volume too high, you run the risk of cracking the subwoofer. Depending on the severity of the crack you can fix it, you may need to replace the bass. Fortunately, with the right supplies and directions you will be able to determine if your crack can be fixed and how to fix it.

Things You'll Need

  • Flashlight
  • Rubber gloves
  • Silicone Sealant
  • Put your subwoofer into an open area with plenty of light.

  • Shine the flashlight onto the subwoofer and follow the visible cracks to ensure that they do not go further when exposed with the flashlight. If the crack is wider than 1/8 inch, you should consider replacing the subwoofer as the audio will sound distorted.

  • Put on the rubber gloves to avoid getting silicone sealant on your hands.

  • Dab a small amount of silicone sealant on your fingers and spread it over the crack on the subwoofer. Fill in the entire crack with the silicone sealant, and let it for at least three days before using it.
