How to Increase the Boost on a Dodge Cummins

You can increase the boost of your Dodge Ram Cummins engine by installing a "boost fooler." These units are produced by aftermarket performance companies for your Dodge Cummins diesel. You will need to verify the year of your vehicle to ensure you get the correct unit. You can have these units installed by a mechanic, or you can do the installation yourself and save money. A boost fooler will increase the boost from the turbo and lower your exhaust gas temperatures.

Things You'll Need

  • Boost fooler module
  • Pull the Cummins-equipped Ram's hood release lever, which is located inside the cab. Then, at the front of the Ram, press the release clip under the front lip of th hood, and open the hood.

  • Locate the MAP sensor inside the engine compartment. It is located near the firewall on the driver's side of the engine. It is toward the rear of the intake manifold. The MAP sensor has four wires connected to it with a blue connector.

  • Disconnect the map sensor by pressing the release levers on each side with your hands.

  • Plug the male end of the boost fooler into the MAP sensor.

  • Plug the female end of the boost fooler into the stock wiring harness.

  • Close the hood.
