Remote starters for automobiles were introduced in the mid-1990s as a way to control your vehicile from as far away as several hundred feet. These remotes allow you to remotely start your engine, sound your panic alarm, pop your trunk or lock and unlock your doors. Among the cars featuring this technology in the 2010s are Ford cars. Most Fords are made standard with keyless remote systems, and others can have them added aftermarket. You can easily program original remotes or replacement remotes to your Ford within just seconds.
Enter your car in the driver's seat with your ignition key and keyless remote in hand. Be sure to close all of the doors and the trunk behind you.
Insert your key into the ignition. Turn the key from the "Off" position two clicks to the right to the "Run" position.
Quickly turn the key back to the "Off" position and complete this cycle six more times in quick succession, for a total of seven cycles. Remember: "Run" then back to "Off."
Cycle the key to "Run" after the seventh cycle, for an eighth turn to the "Run" option. Wait for your Ford to respond by cycling the locks.
Press the lock or unlock button on your keyless remote to program it into the system and wait for the locks to respond again by indicating the programming was successful. Be sure to do this within 20 seconds.
Program all other remotes within 20 seconds as well, waiting for the response each time with each remote.
Turn your key in the ignition back to the "Off" position once you are done programming your remotes to end the programming sequence. You will now be free to use all of your keyless remotes with your Ford vehicle.
