How to Change a Turn Signal in a Cadillac SRX

The turn signal is an important component of the safety of your Cadillac SRX. If it burns out, it should be replaced, immediately. As the turn signal is contained in the lower turn signal assembly, you will need to remove the front wheel, in order to access the bulb. The Cadillac SRX uses 3157-type bulbs for the turn signals, which can be purchased at most automotive parts suppliers. The entire process should take no more than 20 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Clean gloves
  • Jack
  • Wheel wrench
  • Socket wrench
  • Replacement bulb
  • Turn off the engine of your SRX, and put on the gloves.

  • Place the jack under the vehicle on the side you will be replacing the turn signal light. Loosen the plastic nut covers with the wheel wrench, but do not remove them.

  • Raise the vehicle to a point at which you can comfortably remove the tire. Use the flat end of the wheel wrench to remove the wheel cover. Loosen, and remove, the wheel nuts. Remove the tire from the vehicle.

  • Use the socket wrench to remove the four bolts, holding the wheel well access panel in place. Remove the access panel.

  • Reach into the wheel well, and locate the turn signal assembly. Remove the largest bulb, by rotating it counterclockwise, and pulling it out of the assembly. Install the replacement bulb, and rotate it, clockwise, to secure it.

  • Reattach the access panel and the four bolts.

  • Place the tire back on the vehicle, and reattach the wheel nuts. Reinstall the cover and plastic nut covers. Lower the vehicle.
