How to Replace a Fog Light Bulb in a Jeep Liberty

On many vehicles, you'll find that you need to get underneath the front bumper to access and replace the fog light bulbs. However, the Jeep Liberty SUV is an exception. The design of the light assembly and the front end allows owners to access the fog light bulb from the engine compartment, just as if replacing the headlight bulbs. This makes the procedure a little easier than in some other vehicles, because you don't have to get on the ground.

Things You'll Need

  • Bulb H10
  • Turn the Liberty's engine off and pop open its hood. Wear a pair of work gloves. Consider waiting 10 to 15 minutes before replacing the fog light if the Liberty has been driven recently. This would allow enough time for it to cool down.

  • Locate the fog light bulb. The bulb is visible beneath the headlight assembly. Reach down behind the headlight assembly and firmly grip the bulb.

  • Turn it counterclockwise to detach it. Lift it up to bring it above the assembly. This allows you to view it better. Unplug the old fog light bulb from the connector.

  • Push the new fog light bulb into the connector until it clicks. This lets you know it's properly fitted.

  • Reach back down to the fog light mount with the new bulb. Insert it inside its case. Turn it clockwise to re-attach it to the Liberty.
