Auto Insurance Claims: claim, deer damage, caveat

Question
i have deer damage, and it is not totaled, but i was wondering if they would send me a check if i did not want to get it fixed so i could just put it on the loan....i wouldnt even care if they just sent it directly to the loan .....is this possible?

Answer
With most insurers, this can be done.  And if they say no, I would complain and ask them to show you where in the policy it says they won't do that.

The only caveat is that they won't continue to insure the vehicle if they determine it is unsafe to drive.  But is sounds like that is not the case.  And if you have a future claim, it can sometimes become complicated if the new damage overlaps with the old damage.
