Auto body repair & detailing: Auto shop repair policy, autobody shop, insurance claim

Question
My girlfriend got a quote for a side door dent that was 803.00. She wasn't able to take it in in the 30 days the quote was good for and the secretary said they may charge more once they start looking/working. What should she do to protect her from them adding a bunch to the final bill. I am assuming she should just get a complete new estimate before turning it in.
Thanks.

Answer
Ok this is an insurance claim correct? If it is, the shop should bill the insurance company direct for any added labor or materials for your vehicle. This is called a Supplement. Some times when a shop gets into the job there are items that are broken or damaged that cant be foreseen. If the autobody shop does not send supplements to your ins. company and want you to pay out of pocket take my advice and stay away you will get burned bad!  YOU CAN BANK ON THAT ONE !!!!!

Hope this helps
