hi i own a nissan 200sx s13 with a ca18det engine it smokes on tickover and under low revs but after 3000 rpm it clears. the smoke is blue/grey in colour. do you know what this could be? many thanks ben

The vavle seals are worn out.  They need to be replaced.  Also, switch to Penzoil 5W30 and it should help too.  No, I am not recommending Penzoil but my Grandfather had a used car lot and that was his standard oil change for cars that burnt oil.  It really does slow it down.  To do the valve seals you will need remove the valve cover, spark plugs and cam followers and then get compressed air screw an adapter into each spark plug hole, one at a time, to hold the valves closed and then use an on head valve spring compressor to get the valve spring off.  Then, you need to remove the keepers and then you can get to the seals.  Remove the old one and install the new one.  You have to do it for all the valves and then put the cam followers back on and adjust the valves and then reinstall the valve cover.
