Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Alternator on B&S engine, amp alternator, model states

Question
I have a B&S 18hp model 422707 type 1210 and can't figure out what alternator is in it.  The manual on-line includes both a 6-9 Amp and a 10-16 Amp.  I bought it used.  The model states Electric Starter,12 Volt Gear Drive With Alternator.  Can you help?

Thanks

Answer
Hello Marc:

The Number of Charging Coils Determine the Charging Amps. If you are Replacing the Old Alternator/Stator, then Install the 16 Amp Alternator. The Larger the Amperage the Less Charging and Battery Problems you will Have. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
