Steering Column Repair: 1994 Chevy Camaro z28, chevy camaro, costly issues


Question
I recently bought a 1994 z28 and the ignition went out in it while taking a look at the car i realized that i had no clue on how to pull the steering column out. I'm going to replace the whole thing I just need to know how to do it. please help.

Hi Jarrid:

You might want to slow down a little and make sure you know what you are getting into.  Your column has both an airbag and a chip in the key for antitheft purposes.  Replacing the entire column is going to make you deal with a lot more issues than just the 'ignition going out'.  
If you want to explain what exactly happened then maybe I can help you repair the current problem you h ave rather than trying to address now and much more costly issues after you spend $$$$ and install someone else's problem column.   Lastly, those columns a re pretty hard to find and could cost you up to $400 to find a good used one
