Towing Issues: Florida Towing, tow truck, private property

Question
I was parked on private property in Florida. I saw a tow truck going toward my truck so I went and go in it and was going to move. He backed up behind me and lifted me as I was getting ready to go which caused damage to my truck because the car was literally in motion as he turned the lift on.

At this point he told me I could pay 44 dollars to get my truck down. I didn't have the money so I sent a friend to get the money, but I never left the scene. After about 5 minutes he left before my friend could return with the money and then they charged me 89 dollars.

Did anything illegal happen here?

Answer
I really have no idea of how to answer this question...

Doing what you did by attempting to drive the vehicle away when the tow truck was there either attempting to hook up or had lifted the vehicle can do EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND THE TOW TRUCK ALSO ..

Is that illegal, not sure there as a judge would rule on that. UNSAFE YES

Charging you money, well that is up to the rules of the city you are in, I know several cities have different rules and regulations...

Sorry but that is about the best answer for you that I can provide... I realize it is not much of one but it has to many different aspects to really cover here and there are a bunch of unknowns also for me to answer.
