The headliner in a 2004 Toyota Corolla is not difficult to remove. The headliner material is a light fabric that can begin to sag or fall down, blocking the view of the driver. The only way to permanently repair this problem is to remove the headliner and replace it with a new one. The headliner can be removed by one person in under 30 minutes using only a few common tools found in most homes.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the sun visors from the headliner. There are two screws in the main base of the sun visors and one screw in the base that holds the lose end of the sun visor to the ceiling.
Remove the plastic trim pieces off of the Corolla using your hands. Remove the plastic pillars on each side of the windshield, on each side of the rear window and the flat plastic piece between the front and rear glass windows on the sides. These pieces are easily popped off.
Pull the headliner down from the ceiling of the Corolla. Pull gently so the thick headliner board doesn't crack or break. Turn the headliner at an angle so that it can fit out of the door.
