Tips on Buying Cars: buying a used suv, 2008 saturn vue, american automakers

Question
We need to get rid of our 2002 Explorer because of fears of great expenses coming.
We have looked at dealers and private owners and prices are so high.
I have found a private owner with a 2008 Saturn Vue 4wd for $12,500 that looks good.  But I hear all kinds of bad things about used GM cars.  With Saturn out of business can I get parts and service?  The main thing is it a good buy or going to devour a lot of money from bad design?
Can you name other Suvs that price range that I can look at?  We do tow a 1500lb trailer in the summer for vacation.

Answer
Don:Considering that Saturn is longer a company, the advantage is the Vue may be still under warranty. With 5 year or 100,000 mile powertrain could be a good buy,and a 5 year or 100,000 on roadside assistance. It is fact many GM dealerships service and carry parts for the Vue.Because it is the Equinox for Chevy, same SUV,everything.

Lets face it,if had not been for the imports;the American cars would not be enjoying quality control today. Some how the public lost faith,in Chevy,Ford,Dodge, ect.Today, take a close look.Wow!I personally like the product that our American automakers are producing today.

Almost any SUV will tow from your requirements, even a Mini-van.With careful research and ask questions, the SUV quest will be fun and painless.Good luck! Don
