How do I Replace a 95 Honda Accord Front Turn Signal Assembly?

In 1995, Honda moved the Accord out of its boxier look into a curvier, fresh appearance that helped it stand out of the import sedan crowd. The facelift retained the previous body style's combination of side-mounted corner lights and front bumper-mounted turn signals. Both lights appear to be affixed permanently to the Accord's front fascia, thanks to the craftily concealed fasteners. You don't need to resort to removing the entire front bumper cover to replace either light; in fact, all you need is a single screwdriver and a couple of minutes of your time.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • No. 168 bulbs
  • Shop towels or gloves

Front Bumper-Mounted Turn Signal

  • Crouch in front of the Accord, near the front bumper grille opening. Look for an opening cut into the side of the grille opening; there will be a small collar that leads to the turn signal assembly mounting screw.

  • Insert a long Phillips screwdriver through the collar and loosen the screw until you can pull out the side of the turn signal assembly closest to the grille opening. Pull the assembly toward the grille opening until the tab on the outer edge of the assembly is free from slot cut into the front bumper.

  • Grasp the turn signal bulb socket on the back of the assembly and twist it counterclockwise until you can pull it away from the turn signal assembly. Grasp the old bulb and pull it out of the socket.

  • Hold the new No. 168 bulb with a shop towel or gloves and push it into the bulb socket. Push the socket into the turn signal assembly and twist it clockwise until it locks into place.

  • Slip the tab on the outer edge of the turn signal assembly into the front bumper's slot, then push the assembly firmly into place. Insert your screwdriver through the plastic collar on the edge of the grille opening and snugly tighten the turn signal mounting screw.

Corner Signal Light Replacement

  • Raise the hood and look for the "comma"-shaped mounting bracket securing the corner light to the top of the headlight assembly. Remove the screw joining the bracket to the headlight.

  • Grasp the corner light and pull it forward until it is free from the Accord. Grasp the turn signal bulb socket on the back of the assembly and twist it counterclockwise until you can be pull it away from the turn signal assembly. Grasp the old bulb and pull it out of the socket.

  • Hold the new No. 168 bulb with a shop towel or gloves and push it into the bulb socket. Push the socket into the corner light assembly and twist it clockwise until it locks into place. Push the corner light into place and snugly tighten the mounting screw. Lower the hood.
